About Alison
Alison, the heart and soul behind Woodpecker Camping field, is a lifelong Sussex local and passionate steward of the land. Coming from a farming family in Climping, she has a deep-rooted commitment to eco-sustainability and plays an active role to help manage the coastal erosion that affects the family farm.
Alison has lived and worked on a flower farm in Kenya, but Sussex is home. She's an experienced business owner who also runs The Piglets nearby – offering groups and families more flexibility in how they stay.
A host who truly goes the extra mile, Alison is known for her personal touches – including picking guests up from the local station when needed.

The idea for Woodpecker Camping Field was born in 2016 to diversify farm shop income. What started as a basic wild “tents only” camping field with portaloos and a water tap has grown into a fully licensed camping experience with excellent facilities for caravans, motor homes and tents alike.

Alison shares her life with three beloved dogs, two lively cocker spaniels and the boss of all of them, a toy poodle – so naturally, Woodpecker Camping Field is proudly dog-friendly.
